What it doesn't do yet

The parts we'd rather you heard from us.

Every tool has edges. Here are Margin's, with the reason for each, so nothing about this is a surprise after you've installed it.

PDFs and other file attachments

Being built

Images inside your notes sync today. PDFs, audio, sketches and scanned documents don't yet. Apple stores images inside a note's content, where Margin already reads them, and keeps everything else in a separate folder it reads nothing from. Support for those is being built.

Syncing while your Mac is asleep

Not possible

Your notes are read on your Mac, so sync runs when your Mac is awake. Close the lid and it picks up where it left off next time. A note written on your iPhone reaches Notion once your Mac has seen it.

Intel Macs

On the list

Only an Apple silicon build ships today. If you're on an Intel Mac, email us and you'll be first to hear when there's a build to try.

Notion back to Apple Notes

Not planned

Two-way sync means conflict resolution, and conflict resolution on notes you can't afford to lose is exactly where sync tools quietly corrupt data. One direction, read-only at the source, is a promise that can actually be kept.

Something missing from this list?

If Margin doesn't handle something you expected it to, that belongs here. Tell us at hello@marginsync.app and it gets added, whether or not it's something we can fix soon.

Everything else on the homepage is what Margin does do, today.
