Terms of use

Last updated 30 July 2026

The agreement

By downloading or using Margin, you agree to these terms. If you don't, please don't use the app.

Your licence

Margin is licensed to you, not sold. During the beta it is provided free of charge. A purchased licence is personal, covers your own Macs, and does not expire. You keep the version you bought and its updates.

You may not resell, redistribute or reverse-engineer the app, or strip out its licensing.

Beta software

Margin is in beta. It may contain defects, and behaviour may change between releases. Sync is one-way and non-destructive by design, but you remain responsible for your own backups, of both your Apple Notes and your Notion workspace.

Your content

Your notes are yours. We claim no ownership of anything Margin syncs and we never access it. You are responsible for having the right to copy the content you sync into Notion.

Third-party services

Margin works with Notion, and payments run through Polar. Your use of those services is governed by their own terms. We are not responsible for outages, API changes or data loss originating with them.

Refunds

If a paid version of Margin doesn't work for you, email us within 30 days of purchase and we'll refund it. The beta is free, so there is nothing to refund during it.

Warranty and liability

Margin is provided “as is”, without warranty of any kind. To the fullest extent permitted by law, our liability is limited to the amount you paid for the app.

Changes

We may update these terms as the app develops. Material changes will be noted here with a new date, and continuing to use Margin means accepting the revised version.
